Steak’s not the only beef that deserves a drink.

I think there’s a difference between learning from someone and handing them the authority to tell us what to think. Some of the people I’ve learned the most from are people I disagree with in meaningful ways. They’ve given me ideas that completely changed the way I see something. And sometimes, the more I’ve thought about those ideas, the more I’ve realized that while this particular piece changed my thinking, I don’t actually agree with some of the underlying assumptions or framework it came from. I can take something in deeply without having to take in all of it. And my hope is that there’s room for that here too. 💗

A little experiment. For science 😂 Could I get ChatGPT to make an ad I’d actually put my business’s name on? Swipe to see where we landed 👀 The chaotic ad is a parody, but you know the look. Getting somewhere better took some actual design thinking, a little pushback, and knowing when to stop. I’m considering a one-time class on thinking like a design pro when prompting AI. Interested? Comment CLASS. If it saves me from one more glowing brush-font ad, it’ll be worth it 😅

Now drop your "opaque" line in the comments and I'll show you how to make it transparent! ChavyHelfgott.com

Easy like that.

Sometimes “there’s more evidence for this” just means… this is what we’ve studied more (or at all). 🤷♀️

A little coffee, a little chaos, a whole lot of fun. ☕️😂🤍 #WiggleRoom #PlayCafe #KidsPlay #MomLife #coffeeandplay

Ok, after last year and yet another Sukkos spent rearranging chairs, I decided that research would be required. Sukkah furniture research. Because you cannot just put any chairs into a sukkah and hope for the best. There are measurements involved. You have to consider all the possibilities, like that the baby will want to come out of the high chair after five minutes and needs space to crawl, or the possibility that someone (AKA Mindy) will lean back against my model Sukkah even after being told seventeen times not to! So first, I measured the sukkah and the table. Then I measured Abba. Don't laugh, I'm serious. I needed his leg length. Like I explained to Abba, this is what separates serious researchers from people who buy chairs and tables discover on the first night of Yom Tov that nobody can get to the door without smashing things or knocking over the candles. We tested all the important things: - Can you sit comfortably? - Can someone get behind you without knocking your soup? - Will the chair survive grape juice? - Can it stack against the wall when we need the floor space? - Can Ima pass while holding the baby, the challah and a bottle of wine? Anyway, the research is complete. I can't do the research for you, but I can give you all these great options Abba put together. Tables and chairs for big sukkahs, small sukkahs and why-didn't-we-build-it-wider sukkahs, all right here. There are folding tables, stackable chairs and things that can handle being outdoors for a week, end even things that look so nice you could really use it inside your house. You can also find all the flooring and lighting and other stuff Abba says you need to make a sukkah “properly functional”. I recommend measuring before you order. Your sukkah, I mean. But if you're really serious, you should measure your Abba too. Anyway, start finding it all at ItsYomTov.com

Should’ve eaten one more piece when I had the chance.

For example, with another adult, someone can tell you to say: “I’m not willing to discuss this.” And maybe those are perfectly good words. But if somewhere inside of me I still believe that I owe you an explanation… That I need you to agree that my reason is good enough… That I’m responsible for how you feel about my decision… That I’m not really allowed to just say no… Then giving me the sentence “I’m not willing to discuss this” doesn’t change any of that. I can memorize the words. I can say them. But they may come out stiff, defensive, apologetic, or much harsher than I intended, because the words aren’t actually matching what’s happening inside of me. And I think the opposite happens too. When I’ve done the work of really experiencing: this is me and that is you. I’m allowed to make my own choices. You’re allowed to be unhappy with them. I don’t have to convince you that my boundary is reasonable in order to have it… I often don’t need someone to give me a script. The words become natural. Maybe it’s “No, I’m not doing that.” Or “I don’t want to talk about this.”, or “I hear that you’re upset. My answer is still no.” The exact words can change because, to me, the important part isn’t the sentence. It’s the place I’m speaking from.

The best kind of plans ☕️🧸 A little playtime for them, a little coffee time for you. 🤎 #WiggleRoom #PlayCafe #Playdate #CoffeeDate #LakewoodNJ
